PKNU held entrance ceremony for 2024 school year

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) held an entrance ceremony for the 2024 school year at the university theater on the morning of February 29.

Total of 3,559 students were enrolled as freshmen this year, including 568 students in the college of humanities and social sciences, 212 in the natural sciences, 237 in the business administration, 1,144 in the engineering, 384 in the fisheries sciences, 262 in the environmental and marine sciences and technology, and 597 in the information technology and convergence, 126 in future convergence, and 29 students in the division of global & interdisciplinary studies.

The entrance ceremony, which was held both in-person and live streaming (live broadcast on YouTube), was attended by new students, their parents, President Jang Young-Soo, academic affairs committee members, and president Seo Young-Ok of the alumni association.

At the entrance ceremony on this day, students Kwon Yoon-Yil (department of Aquatic life medicine), Ryu Seok-Joon (department of nursing), and Lee Do-Hyeon (department of computer engineering), who were admitted as top students in each group, received full tuition exemption for four years and scholarship certificates worth 1.5 million won for the semester of admission and 1 million won for each semester.

In addition, 19 new students, including Jeong Ye-Ji (department of law), who were selected as having excellent academic records at each college, received full tuition exemption for four years and received scholarship certificates worth 1 million won for the semester of admission and 500,000 won each semester.

President Jang Young-Soo said in his greeting, "As Pukyong National University celebrates its 100th anniversary in history, I believe that all of you who enrolled this year are the protagonists of your own lives and the protagonists of our university that will write a new history. I heartily welcome you and congratulations."

He also emphasized, "The era of great change in technology and civilization represented by AI has already begun. Everything is still uncertain, but I hope you do not forget and focus on the feelings you have at this very moment when everything is possible." <Pukyong Today>
