PKNU commemorates its centennial with edition stamps and umbrellas

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) has decided to produce commemorative items such as stamps and umbrellas to celebrate its centennial anniversary this year.

Pukyong National University held an awards ceremony for the 'centennial commemorative edition goods idea and design contest' on March 14th and decided to commercialize the winning entries.

In this contest, three entries including 'centennial commemorative stamp', 'whale printing umbrella', and 'wave-blocking whale printing umbrella' were selected as winners of the excellence award.

The commemorative stamp work received excellent reviews for applying the stamp design with images of Pukyong National University's 100-year history and the school main character, and in the form of a masking tape, allowing for easy peeling and sticking of individual stamps.

The two umbrella designs received acclaim for incorporating images of Pukyong National University's mascot, 'Baekyongee', along with the school’s symbolic logo and oceanic imagery.

In addition, four entries were selected for the encouragement award, including tumbler, mug, and cup holder series, Baekyongee stamp sticker, Baekyongee emoticons, and Baekyongee tea infuser glass set.

Pukyong National University plans to utilize the award-winning entries, produced as actual products by the Consumer Cooperative Association, for sale through campus stores as part of the university's centennial commemoration.

Pukyong National University, born from the merger of Busan national university of technology (established in 1924) and the National fisheries university of Busan (established in 1941), the first comprehensive national universities (1996) in South Korea, is undertaking various projects to commemorate its centennial anniversary this year, marking the founding year of 1924. <Pukyong Today>
