Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) is drawing attention from the public as it secured 38 billion won of research grant in the national R&D project hosted by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) in the first half of 2021.

    

Pukyong National University announced on June 21 that it reached 38 billion won as a result of counting the R&D project deals received by the National Research Foundation of Korea in the first half of this year. This is a 130% (21.6 billion won) increase from the number of new project orders received by the National Research Foundation of Korea (16.4 billion won) in the first half of last year, which is an increase of 25.6 billion won compared to 2019 (12.4 billion won).

    

As a major project, Professor Jeong Won-Kyo (Dept. of Biomedical Engineering) has been selected for the 'Research Center for Marine Integrated Bionics Technology' for the support project of university-centered research institute in the science and engineering field, and will receive up to 8 billion won in support by 2030. For the program, 'Nano and Material Technology Development-Future Technology Lab', a research consortium led by Professor Park Sung-Heum (Dept. of Physics) as the chief professor has been selected and will receive up to approximately 4.7 billion won, and Professor Liu Jay (Dept. of Chemical Engineering) has been selected for the ‘Basic Research in Science & Engineering’ program and will receive follow-up support of 1.1 billion won by 2024.

    

Above all, Pukyong National University was generally stronger in the field of individual research programs of the National Research Foundation of Korea. Pukyong National University has been selected for a total of 29 programs in the ‘Individual Basic Research in Science & Engineering’, recording a high selection rate (85.3%). It ranks fifth among national and public universities after Seoul National University and Pusan National University.

    

Pukyong National University announced on the achievement of Pukyong National University's academic promotion business, which encouraged active participation in research, as the cause of the trending upward in an accelerating degree in the number of programs for national R&D projects this year.

    

Pukyong National University is operating various research support programs, such as 'free publication charges for excellent thesis' and 'free English services for excellent thesis' for researchers to actively participate in research. Above all, the university is operating the ‘Academic Support Program for New Professors’ to increase the motivation of new researchers for research and to promote a pleasant research environment.

    

Pukyong National University attracts excellent researchers through the 'Post-Doc. Support Program' and promotes research performance improvement in connection with new faculty. To stimulate researchers' active application for research projects, the univeristy operates the 'Support Program for Project Application Reserves' and intensively supports university-specialized research fields through the 'Support Program for Challenge Research Group'.

    

It is highly evaluated that the effect of differentiated administrative support such as the ‘R&D Smart Service’, which enables real-time communication with researchers using the messenger application introduced by the university to provide researcher-centered administrative services.
