Bae Sang-hoon Appointed as the 8th President of Pukyong National University

Professor Bae Sang-hoon (裵尙勳) (60·Major of Geomatics Engineering) has been appointed as the 8th President of Pukyong National University.

Pukyong National University announced that Professor Bae Sang-hoon was appointed as the 8th president of the university on November 15, following the Ministry of Education’s national university president appointment process. His term will last for 4 years, until November 14, 2028.

President Bae Sang-hoon graduated from Pusan National University with a degree in Civil Engineering and received his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Transportation Engineering from Virginia Tech. Since 2002, he has served as a professor in the Major of Geomatics Engineering at Pukyong National University, where he also served as the Dean of the College of Environment and Marine Sciences. He has also worked as a research fellow at the Korea Transport Institute. Currently, he holds positions as the Chair of the Busan Metropolitan City Public Transport Citizen Fund and Co-chair of the Busan Metropolitan City Public Transport Forum.

Professor Bae stated, “I will focus on advancing key initiatives of the university, including the Glocal University Project, RISE Project, and the Division of Undeclared and Exploratory Majors, and lead Pukyong National University towards innovation as a sustainable future-oriented university.” He also added, “I will work to realize the vision of making the university a strong institution at a global level, in collaboration with the local community, based on communication and unity.”

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. on December 18th in the conference room on the 2nd floor of the Pukyong National University Main Administration Building. <Pukyong Today>
