Pukyong National University Presents a Vision for UniversityRegion Co-Growth through the ‘RISE’ Initiative

RISE Program Performance-Sharing Conference Held on the 12th

 

Pukyong National University (President Bae Sang-Hoon) held the “First-Year Integrated RISE Program Performance-Sharing Conference” on February 12 at the Capri Room of Paradise Hotel to share the outcomes of governmentindustryacademia collaboration and to expand a regional innovation model.

 

Hosted by the university’s RISE Program Office (Director Ha Myung-Shin, Vice President for External Affairs), the event was held under the theme “RISE, RISE! Growing Together,” with approximately 150 participants, including program members, participating faculty, and representatives from partner institutions.

 

Pukyong National University secured more than KRW 10 billion in funding last year under the Busan RISE Program as a research-oriented university, and has since been carrying out a wide range of projects in its specialized fields, including Blue Food Tech, Energy Tech, and AI·S/W.

 

At the event, an awards ceremony was held to recognize outstanding faculty achievements across several fields under the first-year projects, including IndustryAcademia Joint Technology Development, Innovative R&BD, Humanities and Social Sciences Moonshot, Eco-RISE, and Regional Community Innovation Projects.

 

On the day, Professor Kim Chan-Hee (Major in Applied Life Science in Aquaculture), Professor Park Se-Min (Major in Advanced Materials Systems Engineering), Professor Kim Jin-Soo (Major in Satellite Information Convergence Engineering), Professor Lee Kyung-Chang (Major in Control and Instrumentation Engineering), Professor Kim Chang-Kyung (Department of Chinese Studies), Professor Hong Dong-Sik (Major in Visual Design), Professor Lee Tae-Yoon (Major in Environmental Engineering), and Professor Kim Chae-Hyun (Department of Digital Finance) received the President’s Award and presented their outstanding case studies.

 

In addition, a commissioning ceremony was held for the “Marine Environment Senior Expert Instructors Group,” a community engagement program. The RISE Program Office presented appointment certificates to 20 senior instructors trained in cooperation with the Marine Environment Education Institute of the Korea Marine Environment Corporation, and also awarded a certificate of appreciation to the institute.

 

In the special lecture that followed, Professor Seo Yong-Cheol of the Department of Civil Engineering (former President of BISTEP) presented on the theme “The Success Formula of Innovative Japanese Companies,” offering strategic insights and implications for innovation that universities and local enterprises should pursue together.

 

Ha Myung-Shin, Director of the RISE Program Office, stated, “We will strengthen networking among participating institutions, further refine a sustainable regional innovation collaboration model, and actively share and disseminate the RISE program’s outstanding outcomes, thereby reinforcing our role in leading the mutually beneficial development of government, industry, and academia.” <Pukyong Today>
