University Drives Business Growth: Sales Up 31%, 89 New Jobs, and KRW 160 Billion in Exports

Pukyong National University draws attention for supporting companies at Yongdang Campus through its RISE Program

Pukyong National University (President Sang-Hoon Bae) announced that, following the full-scale operation of its RISE Program last year, companies located on campus achieved notable results, including increased sales and the creation of new jobs.

Through the “Campus-Based Regional Revitalization” subproject under Busan’s RISE initiative, the university has spent the past year advancing Yongdang Campus as a hub for cooperation among local communities, industries, academia, and research institutes.

Among the approximately 150 companies located on Pukyong National University Yongdang Campus, an analysis of 49 companies that received direct support through this RISE subproject showed that a total of 89 new jobs were created during 2025. In particular, the sales revenue of 19 companies that continuously remained on campus from 2024 to 2025 increased from KRW 27.1 billion to KRW 35.4 billion, representing an increase of approximately 31%.

Pukyong National University explained that these achievements were made possible by establishing an innovative ecosystem based on cooperation among local communities, industries, academia, and research institutes on Yongdang Campus through the RISE Program, along with a full-cycle support system tailored to the growth stages of startup companies. For early-stage startups, the university provided fundamental programs such as IR pitch deck development and marketing support, while growth-stage companies were linked to programs supporting global market expansion and R&BD (research and development-based commercialization).

In particular, the “Global Expansion Support Group” program, which systematically supports the overseas expansion of resident companies, has shown outstanding results. Through initiatives such as hosting global cooperation forums for foreign governments, participating in international exhibitions, and operating global tech meetup programs, the university secured a total of three export agreements worth approximately KRW 160 billion in just one year, strengthening the global competitiveness of regional companies.

President Sang-Hoon Bae stated, “Based on the achievements of increased sales growth and job creation among resident companies through the RISE Program, we will continue to expand a sustainable model of cooperation among local communities, industries, and academia centered on Yongdang Campus.” He added, “We will further advance a virtuous cycle that leads to the creation of jobs for local young people and stronger regional industrial development.” <Pukyong Today>
