| The ROTC of PKNU is selecting the female cadets for the first time since the establishment of ROTC in 48years. - It is advertising for the 52nd female cadets, and the facilities including the living spaces will be offered to them. The ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) of PKNU is selecting the female cadets for the first time. It is singling out the female cadets in 48 years since the military ROTC was founded in 1963. Because of this fact, PKNU is going to build the living spaces, the lounges, and the rest rooms for the female cadets. Last year, the army decided to select about 60 women as the cadets in 7 universities including Sookmyung Women’s University, and all of the universities which have ROTC agreed to select 160 more women cadets from this year. This coming August, the name of the successful candidates will be announced, and they are going to go on training course for two years. After graduating, they will do their duties which are based on their major as a second lieutenant for two years and four months. There are two requirements which female applicants should meet. First, it is possible for sophomore only to enlist in the ROTC. Second, it is okay for 20 to 27 years old only to apply for the ROTC. If you want to enlist in the ROTC, you should make an application through the website of Army Cadet Command (www.armyofficer.mil.kr) by May 1st. There will be two processes of the selection, and the name of the final selections will be announced on August 25th. Meanwhile, the military ROTC of PKNU was selected as the overall excellent ROTC in 2007. In addition, it was also selected as the outstanding ROTC in the part of the summer training which is to encourage students to join the army.
