The Alumni in Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries showed vigorous activity Seoul Newspaper stated in their newspaper of January 9 that there are some officials in fisheries department from Busan fisheries college (Pukyong National University) through technology test. It was from the post on page 12 <The Biographies of Public Officials in 2014> which is special project series of the newspaper. According to this article, 7 of 15 section chiefs and general managers of fisheries department in the ministry are alumni of Pukyong National University. However, this article missed four more alumni from the university: general manager Choi Wan-Hyeon (the class of '84 of fisheries management department) and Seo Jang-Woo (the class of '81 of fisheries education department), and section director of chief of economy office Yang Dong-Yeop (the class of '86 of biology and resources department) and of marine ecology division Yoon Boon-Do (the class of '86 of fishing department). Let's have a look in detail. "The man on the top of the picture is Son Jae-Hak. Mr. Son and Kang Jun-Seok who is head of fisheries policy department, Jung Young-Hoon who is head of national fisheries research & development institute, and Bang Tae-Jin who is director general for fisheries policy are known as the four big fishes of Busan Fisheries College. Section chiefs including Choi Yong-Seok who is secretary to the Minister are following right behind them," the post introduced like this. The alumni of Pukyong National University is actually leading Korea's fisheries' policy and research through the class of '78,' 79, and '80: vice-minister of Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Son Jae-Hak (the class of '79 of biology and resources department), head of fisheries policy department Kang Jun-Suk (the class of '80 of fisheries management department), head of national fisheries research & development institute Jung Young-Hoon (the class of '78 of food engineering department), Choi Yong-Seok who is the secretary of the minister is the class of '88 of aquaculture technology department which is mrine bio-materials and aquaculture department now. The post stated that Mr. Kang and Mr. Jung have similar career path. Mr. Kang has current position after positions of director general for fisheries policy, trainer of institute of foreign affairs and national security, and director general for international ocean policy. He got the doctor degree in England, so he is known as the international gentleman in the ministry. He was in trouble last year because of rumor of distribution of marine product polluted by Japanese radioactivity and ocean red tie, but he was evaluated that he handled the troubles well. The post also introduced Mr. Jung that he moved to the position of head of only one fisheries research center in Korea after position of director general for fishery resources, trainer of institute of foreign affairs and national security, director general for fisheries policy, and head of the fisheries policy department. The post said that he also had a hard time last year because of same trouble with Mr. Kang. "Bang Tae-Jin, the director general for fisheries policy, handles comprehensive plans for distribution of marine products. He is doing finishing stroke to make policies what all the consumers and producers can satisfy through improvement of multi-phase distribution system. It is not the policy for what can affect fisheries industry immediately, but for directing the way of future fisheries policy," the article stated. Mr. Bang is the class of '81 of oceanography department. "Park Seung-Jun the head of income and welfare department, Park Shin-Chul the head of instruction and negotiation department, and Shin Hyun-Seok the head of fishing village and farming department are also alumni of the college. Park Seung-Jun handles fishers' insurance, welfare, and subsidy, Park Shin-Chul checks illegal fishing, and Shin Hyun-Seok and Jeon Jae-Woo who is the head of fish farming industry department cares policy of fish farming as a part of industry," the article said. Park Seung-Jun graduated fish diseases department (aquatic life medicine department now) in the class of '89, and Park Shin-Chul and Shin Hyun-Seok graduated fishing department (division of marine production system now) in the class of '87 and '88.
