Professor Nam Song-Woo was appointed as the representative director of Busan Cultural Foundation in a row
- His third year of the position would be started on February 7 ... The second and third reappointment as the director of the foundation after the first representative director Kang Nam-Ju.
Nam Song-Woo, professor of Korean Language and Literature of Pukyong National University, will continue his job as the representative director of Busan Cultural Foundation as the third of the foundation on February 7.

Because of the reappointment, professors of Pukyong National University have been continually chosen to lead Busan Cultural Foundation what is the control tower of Busan culture as the professor Nam has been chosen as the second and third representative right after the first, Kang Nam-Ju, who used to be the president and professor of Korean Language and Literature of the university.

Busan Cultural Foundation started in January 2009 to deliberate Busan's local culture and art policy.

The foundation opened temporal board meeting in Gamman Art Center in January 28, and introduced reappointment of representative Nam and decided it.

In this meeting, the board changed the policy that the power of representation of the foundation what used to belong to chairman of the board moves to the representative director, and the director has the right to handle all around business. This is the first director-centered system after six-years of board-centered system since the foundation has been started.

Because of the reappointment, Busan cultural groups expect that the foundation will enhance its independence of management and practicality of culture policy.

Professor Nam planned to come back to the university on February 6 as his director position term will be expired on the day, but Busan city hall asked him to continue his position because the system of private chairman of the board what Busan city hall had tried to carry forward was postponed.

The professor started his position on February 2011 as the second representative director of the foundation. In his term, he raised the foundation's level up to the cultural foundations in Seoul and Gyeonggi and tried to develop local culture such as holding representative assembly of cultural foundations from twelve cities and provinces. He also leads to make local culture promotion act which went through the congress last year.

Meanwhile, professor Nam has been worked as the professor of Pukyong National University from 1985. He also worked as the dean of academic affairs of PKNU, the dean of humanities and social sciences, chairman of the board of Lee Joo-Hong Literature Foundation, second chairman of the board of Korean Writers Council, director of Yosan Commemoration Business Team, president of Busan division of Korean Writers Council, president of The Korean Literature Association, and the director of Busan Resistance Movement Commemoration Business Team.

He make his debut to literary circles with winning in Cho-sun Ilbo's annual spring literary contest in 1980 and Joongang Ilbo's annual spring literary contest in 1981. Even before he is on the representative director's position, he has been worked in Busan's culture and art industry such as a literary critic of Today's Literary Criticism which is only on literary magazing for criticism and a messenger in Yong-Gwang Book Discussion Group which is the oldest book discussion group in Korea. <Pukyong Today>
