Students of Pukyong National University ‘stand out’ in DA design contests Students of Pukyong National University have exceled in DA (Data Architecture) design contests. DA (data architecture) is composed of models, policies, rules or standards that govern which data is collected, and how it is stored, arranged, integrated, and put to use in data systems and in organizations to perform tasks in each business part. In the contest whose theme was ‘design for integrated social welfare system data base for the whole nation, they made a logic data model blueprint integrating social welfare database used in various social welfare-related authorities across the country into a single system available for flexible task change. Their blueprint was highly evaluated by realizing the integration of demander-oriented welfare service database structure and the integration of database structure of welfare service beneficiaries and providers, which was one of the required conditions of the competition. In addition to above award, Hong Jeong Min (25, senior) of Computer Engineering department and No Dong Young (24, junior) of IT Convergence and Application Engineering department won the second prize in the student part of the contest. They received the prize money of 1 million won. The theme was ‘DB design of corporation welfare facilities operation system’ and they successfully drew their data model blueprint available for management of using targets, reservation for, and calculation of the use of corporation welfare facilities. All of these winners belong to ‘Datapia,’ a specialized database club of Pukyong National University, which has produced satisfactory achievements, having won the top prize in 2010, 2011, and 2013 and the second prize in 2012 for 5 years in a row. <Pukyong today> |
