Italy - PKNU, co-operation, join hands in brotherhood CoNISMa (Antonio Mazzola, a professor at Palermo University), a marine science consultative group between PKNU (President Kim Young-seop) and 32 Italian universities, has come together for 'ocean research'.
It is noteworthy that CoNISMa first requested the Korean Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. It reflects the high interest of the international community in PKNU, which runs a pilot project prior to the establishment of the World Fisheries College (WFU) under the UN FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization). The CoNISMa (National Interuniversity Consortium for Marine Sciences) is headquartered in Rome, Italy with the FAO Secretariat. It is a national research institute of the Italian government (university and science and technology research department) established in 1996. 700 members, including university professors, are working to promote research in the marine field. Starting with this agreement, the establishment of the World Fisheries University (WFU), which aims at the development and dissemination of fisheries technology, will enlarge the efforts of the international community to jointly solve the problems of humanity, such as the improvement of world food and hunger problems. PKNU, which has been studying the ocean for the longest time in Korea, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Italian university for the first time in the field of marine science and technology, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, marine life and biotechnology And will promote academic activities such as joint research. On the same day, PKNU and CoNISMa held a symposium to announce 12 themes and exchange information on the basis of 'Sustainable Fishery Industry' by both marine fisheries scientists and announcement of cases to improve management of joint resources. <Pukyong Today> |
