PKNU awarded honorary diploma to Lee Jae-hoon, student of 'Himalaya Expedition'
In memory of his challenging spirit and enthusiasm... delivered an honorary diploma to his bereaved family on october 17

Lee Jae-hoon, the late student who died in an unfortunate accident who was active in a 'Himalayan Expeditionary', received an honorary diploma from his alma mater.

President of Pukyong National University, Kim Young-seup visited Lee Jae-hoon's funeral on the afternoon of October 17 in the funeral hall of the Seoho hospital in Gwangan-dong, Busan, and delivered an honorary diploma to the bereaved family.

The student Lee Jae-hoon, who entered the computer engineering department of Pukyong National University in 2012, finished his first semester in the 4th grade and took a leave of absence in last September and participated as a food and medical staff member in the '2018 Koreanway Gurja Himal Expedition'

Lee Jae-hoon and five other members of the crew were pioneering a new route, including Gurja Himar's south direct wall of Daulagiri Mountain peaks of Himalayas in Nepal, starting from 28th of last month. The accident occurred at base camp on the 13th and he was found dead with four Nepalese guides.

Lee Jae-hoon won the national championship in 2015 in the general mountain climbing male college division and won the Busan city representative title, and he also became the president of the Busan student mountain alliance college that year. Last year, Kim was considered to be the next generation leader in the Korean mountain community, including a new route to Mountain Dharamsura (6446m) and Papsura (6451m) in the Himalayas of India in the Himalayan expedition.

PKNU President Kim Young-seup said, "Although he has not completed all of the required courses, but to memory and honor the spirit of challenge and enthusiasm for the new path he carved in our hearts, so we grant honorary diplomas for the rest and peace of his soul buried in the Himalayas."

On the other hand, the group memorial alter of the expedition members was held at the auditorium of the University of Seoul from 17th to 19th, and the joint funeral was held at the same place on the afternoon of the 19th. <Pukyong Today>
