Pukyong National University (President Kim Young-seup) has been selected for 'Support for Lifelong Education System of Universities' for 4 consecutive year by the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education.

The university 's lifelong education system support project is a project that supports the establishment of an adult learner friendly bachelor's system in the university in order to activate working first and learning later, and to expand opportunities for participation in the national higher education.

Pukyong National University, which has been selected as a college type in this project, received 5.8 billion won in support from 2016 last year, followed by an additional 4 billion won budget for 4 years from this year to 2022.

Pukyong National University plans to strengthen its lifelong education support system through The College of Future Convergence (Dean, Joo Dong-beom), which has a regular degree program for lifelong education with the selection of this project.

The College of Future Convergence of Pukyong National University operates four departments including Department of lifelong education and counseling, Department of Mechanical & Shipbuilding Convergence Engineering, Department of Electrical, Electronics and Software Engineering, Department of Public Safety and Police, and recruiting 200 people every year.

This college can be supported by an incumbent or an adult learner who is over 30 years old, and is selected as an adult learner-tailored admission without reflecting the score.

"We will do our best to lead the development of local culture and to grow into a lifelong education base university for the local residents.", said Joo Dong-beom, the Dean of Future Convergence College.

Meanwhile, 30 universities in five regions across the country have been selected for this project. A total of 23.4 billion won will be funded in consideration of the type and operating scale of the university's lifelong education system. <Pukyong Today>
