Pukyong National University has expanded and operated an English cafe to improve the language skills and job competencies of students.

Pukyong National University Global Language Education Center (CEO Kim Hyun-tae) and LINC+ Business Group (CEO Seo Yong-cheol) held the opening ceremony of the ’LINC + Global Connect Cafe’ at the Engineering Building #1 on October 1st.

This cafe, where students can interact with native speakers and develop their language skills, entrepreneurship, and industry-university cooperation, is the second cafe following the first cafe opened last year in the Hoyeon Hall at the Pukyong National University. As the number of students using the first cafe increased to 1,400 last year and about 1,000 in the first semester this year, the second cafe has been opened.

Pukyong National University plans to expand the program of competency enhancement programs such as ’Native Speaker Free Talking’ and ’Employment Related Lectures’, which are run at LINC + Global Connect Cafe # 1, as well as ’English Writing Clinic’ and ’English Presentation Contest’. .

Accordingly, Pukyong University students can improve their language skills by talking with native speakers in foreign languages as well as the first store, and receive free corrections when writing English resumes. The cafe can be used to organize small groups such as study groups and participate in English contests for students using the cafe.

For that, the study space was prepared with 30 seats including tables and chairs in this 42 ㎡ space. Regular subscriptions to English newspapers and magazines were provided, and beam projectors and computers were installed so that audiovisual materials could be utilized.

Kim Hyun-tae, the CEO of the Global Language Education Center, said, “With the transfer of 11 departments of engineering colleges to Daeyeon Campus, there has been a continuous demand to expand the space to support students’ global competency improvement.”, and he added, "I hope it will help you develop your skills and thinking skills.” <Pukyong Today>
