Pukyong National University participated in the 17th Busan International Fisheries Expo, one of the best fisheries trade fairs in Asia, and started marketing fisheries study.

The expo kicked off the opening ceremony on the 6th at the 1st floor of Haeundae BEXCO, with major guests including Busan Mayor Oh geo-don and Kim Young-seop, President of Pukyong National University. In three days, 420 companies from 30 countries will showcase various products and trends of the fisheries industry, including seafood, seafood, and aquaculture industries at 1,200 booths.

The University of Fisheries Sciences at Pukyong National University set up a public relations booth at the fair and promoted the University of Fisheries Sciences, which is the family of fisheries science. At the event, Dean Kim Hyung-Seok and the staff of the administration office and students attended the booth, decorated booths, distributed promotional pamphlets and memorial postcards, and introduced the history, specialty, advantages, and future vision of the College of Fisheries Science.

The College of Fisheries Science, Pukyong National University, a mecca of fisheries science in Korea has undergraduate courses including the Department of Marine Production System Management (Marine Production, Marine Police), Food Engineering, Marine Bio-Materials and Aquaculture, Marine & Fisheries Business and Economics, Fisheries Education, Marine Biology, Food Science and Nutrition, Biotechnology, and Aquatic Life Medicine. The next generation of fisheries leaders at the Graduate School, Graduate School of Global Fisheries and Fisheries Science Research Institute are dedicated to education, research and experimentation for the development of the fisheries and marine industry in the 21st century.

Dean Kim said, “Our graduates are leading the development of Korea's fisheries and marine industry through the government's decision-making on fisheries and marine administration and through the activities of professors and researchers at universities and research institutes. As a fisheries and marine specialization university including marine life sciences, we are committed to open the future of fisheries and marine sciences through challenge and pioneering.”

At the same time, the ASC-MSC Certification Ceremony was held at the MSC booth at the fair, where it was supported by Pukyong National University's Yeungnam Sea Grant Center.

Pukyong National University Fish Sauce Research Institute, a designated research institute of the Ministry of Future Sciences, also entered the exhibition. The company emphasized that it is a company made by honorary professor Jo Young-je (Dept. of Food Science and Technology), Pukyong National University, the highest authority of research of fish sauce in Korea. Pukyong National University Fisheries Processing Research Center (CEO Jeon Byung-soo) also set up a booth next to the Fisheries Science College. The center focused on promoting the Fisheries Professional Course, which is recruited every year.

This course aims to cultivate the best fishery specialists who will play a leading role in the development of the fisheries processing industry in Busan through advanced fishery trends and technology retraining for fisheries processing industry managers and workers.
