Pukyong National University opened lectures offered by the student.
Two winners of the course competition will be opened this coming semester.

Pukyong National University is attracting attention as it expands student participation in curriculum formation, such as actually opening lectures proposed by students.

Pukyong National University’s Division of Future Education Innovation (Head Kim Dong-joon) formally organized two courses in the 1st semester of liberal arts curriculum: ’The Story of Architecture that Created the World’ and ’Development of Biotechnology’ and ’Ethics of Elimination’.

These subjects are the winners of the ’The Contest of My Wish Convergence Liberal Arts’ held by Pukyong National University from October to December last year. In order to maximize the students’ convergence and creativity, the university held a competition to develop and propose their desired courses and opened a course that received excellent evaluation.

The award students not only suggested the subject and necessity of the subject in the proposal, but also received the evaluation that the teaching contents as well as the teaching method, the evaluation method, the expected effects, the references, and the test example were found to be the formal liberal arts courses.

’The Story of Architecture that Created the World’ is a course proposed by five students from various departments, including Fisheries Management, Park Min-young (2nd grade), Department of Display engineering, Fisheries Management, and Ecological Engineering. It is to learn the ’humanities of architecture’ by connecting the meaning of architecture to power, religion, art, safety, and science.

The development of biotechnology and the ethics of elimination were proposed by four students from the department of Law including Lee Wook-jae (3rd grade). To acquire the right ethics related to the latest science and technology such as genetic scissors.

Kim Dong-joon, heda of Pukyong National University’s Division of Future Education Innovation, said, “If the proposed curriculum by students is actually opened, it is expected that it will help not only the proposed students but also other students with their enthusiasm.”

On the other hand, Pukyong National University is strengthening liberal arts education by reforming the liberal arts curriculum into core, balanced, and expanded liberal arts and by raising the minimum credit requirement from the previous 30 credits to 40 credits this year. <Pukyong Today>
