Pukyong National University (President Kim Young-seup) held the 74th anniversary event at Somin Hall on the 2nd floor of the Mirae building on the morning of May 8th.

The event took place before 10th of May, the anniversary of the foundation of the university. The event was held briefly, allowing a handful of winners of the award and President Kim Young-seup and to practice 'distancing in daily life' according to COVID-19.

On this day, President Kim Young-seup said, "A good university will overcome the crisis, and a great university will grow through the crisis," he added, "Our university is actively opening new paths that have never been before, such as the path of the FAO World Fisheries University under the United Nations, the path of Dragon Valley, the platform for the founding of new industries, and the path of radiologic medical college for the special purpose of nuclear medicine."

President Kim said, "Our university has always been through an unknown path that we have never been to. We have always tried to be a warm and creative Pukyong community that prepares for the future with a challenging and selfless spirit, as our university has been doing since its establishment."

Professor Lyu Eun-soon (Dept. of Food and Nutrition), Professor Kim Yun-tae (Dept. of Ocean Engineering), and Professor Lee Yong-wook (Dept. of Electrical Engineering) received the 24th Academic Award, Professor Shin Yong-min (Division of Economics), and Professor Lee Yu-mi (Dept. of Nursing), Professor Park Sang-hyeok (Dept. of Biomedical Engineering) received the 24th Rookie Investigator Award on the day.

The 12th Industrial-Academic Cooperation Award given to contributors to the development of industry-university cooperation was awarded to Professor Kim Eun-jeong (Dept. of Public Administration), Kim Chan-joong (Dept. of Mechanical Design Engineering), Professor Kwon Ki-ryong (Dept. of IT Convergence and Application Engineering), Professor Oh Jeong-Hwan (Dept. of Biomedical Engineering), Professor Ryu Ji-yeol (Dept. of Information and Communications Engineering).

Followed by them, eight people including Professor Noh Yong-seok (Division of International and Area Studies), received the University Development Achievement Award, and Professor Kim Young-mok (Dept. of Food Science and Technology) and Lim Young-hyeon, the team leader (Office of Academic Affairs), received the Alumni Association Award.

26 professors including Professor Seo Seok-heung (Division of Economics) and Kim Sun-hee, public officer (Office of Planning and Administration) received 30years service award, 13 faculty including Professor Cho Moon-hee (Dept. of Fashion Design), and team leader Lee Ki-hwan (Office of International Affairs) were honored for 20years service award in recognition of their long service. Special awards were given to 11 students including Bae Seong-hoon (Dept. of Architecture Engineering, class of '19). <Pukyong Today>
