A research on the development of new electrodes to overcome the energy density limit of electric vehicle batteries is in full swing.

The joint research team of Ulsan Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), Pukyong National University, and Chosun University has been selected to conduct a new research project for the program of Samsung Science & Technology Foundation this year.

The joint research team was selected in the material field for the research project' electrode design and element material technology development for mass-production lithium metal battery system'.

The joint research team has been selected for this project for their research project 'Electrode design and element material technology development for mass-produced lithium metal battery systems'.

For the convergence and fusion R&D, experts in related fields such as UNIST Professor Jeong Kyeong-min, Professor Choi Nam-soon (Dept. of Energy and Chemical Engineering), Professor Oh Pil-gun (Dept. of Graphic Arts Information Engineering, the picture on the left), and Professor Son Yoon-kook of Chosun University (Dept. of Energy Engineering) will participate.

Through this project, they plan to significantly increase the energy density of the negative electrode battery of the lithium metal battery by developing the negative electrode design technology and electrode material technology of the lithium metal battery.

The joint research team expects that when these technologies are developed, they can be applied not only to the current lithium-ion battery production system, but also to commercialize electric vehicles that can drive up to 600 km with a 5-minute charge.

Meanwhile, the program of Samsung Science & Technology Foundation conducted by Samsung Electronics through funding for the development of basic science and industrial technology innovation. A total of 28 projects were selected as research projects for the first half of this year. Pukyong National University was first selected for this project. <Pukyong Today>
