he public's attention was paid to Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-soo) and Kosin University (President Ahn Min) preparing and operating a smart medical treatment system for mild case of Covid-19.

On 18th of January, the 4th Industrial Leaders in Industry-university Cooperation (LINC+) of Pukyong National University and Kosin University Gospel Hospital announced that they will organize a smart medical treatment system using advanced digital technology at the 3rd Life Therapy Center of Busan.

Life Treatment Center of Busan Metropolitan City has started operation at the Gwanggaeto Building at Yongdang Campus, Pukyong National University from the end of last December, and is accepting cases of mild Covid-19 in the region.

Depends on the type of smart treatment service, patients with mild Covid-19 who enter the building can use a smart device to measure data such as body temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate, and take low dose X-rays without leaving the room.

Medical staff monitor patients' conditions remotely in real time, and if an abnormality occurs in a specific patient, they can contact the family or proceed with treatment immediately. In case the patient's condition worsens, the patient will be transferred to a hospital.

Voluntary professors of Kosin University Gospel Hospital are sent to this center to treat patients, and researchers at the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Pukyong National University measure patient data using the remote cloud environment and IT infrastructure built at the center and provide it to medical service team.

Companies are also providing support. LG Electronics supplied portable low-dose x-ray devices and high-sensitive detector technology, and Viva Innovation and JLK group provided an image treatment system, an artificial intelligence reading system, and an electronic chart system for free.

Such a smart treatment system of the 3rd Life Therapy Center of Busan has been evaluated as greatly increasing the satisfaction of patients' treatment services. Recently, before symptoms worsen, a low-dose x-ray system is used to detect pneumonia in patients and transport them to hospitals, which is very effective in patient management and safety of medical service team.

Professor Ahn Ye-chan, chief of the business division of Pukyong National University's 4th Industrial Revolution LINC+ said, "I expect this case of using smart health care for infectious disease response in collaboration with hospitals, universities, and companies will be of great help not only for the development of related technologies and systems, but also for training professional manpower."

Choi Young-sik, director of the Kosin University Gospel Hospital, responsible for medical care at the Life Therapy Center said, "As the number of Covid-19 cases increases, patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes and elderly patients can access to this Life Treatment Center, and the need for a smart medical treatment system is becoming increasing in our society."
