Prof. Liu Jay's research team released their research results on the prospect for the world's hydrogen economy.
- Published in the international journal Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews
Research results that explore the prospect of the world's hydrogen economy through product space analysis are attracting public attention.
The paper ‘Availability, versatility, and viability of feedstocks for hydrogen production: Product space perspective’ was published by the research team of Professor Liu Jay (Department of Chemical Engineering) of Pukyong National University and Professor Lee Moon-Yong (Department of Chemical Engineering) of Yeungnam University.
In this paper, Professor Liu's research team attracted attention by presenting their research results of identifying and analyzing potential feedstocks for hydrogen production from around the world using a product space model that describes a network of exportable products based on product similarity.
According to this paper, natural gas, coal, and electricity were found as feedstocks for hydrogen with high export potential in the global market. Among them, it was found that it is more beneficial to use hydrogen for domestic production rather than as an export because of the low-income potential, except for natural gas. At the same time, the countries with the highest hydrogen export advancement index were the United States, France, and Sweden.
Professor Liu said, "When establishing policies or investment strategies from the perspective of the government or enterprises, taking a broad view is very important. I have high hopes that this research will help accelerate the successful realization of the hydrogen economy."
This study was published in the international scientific journal Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews (IF=12.110) No. 145. This journal is a world-class journal ranked 4th in the Engineering & Computer Science Society rankings released this year by Google Scholar. <Pukyong Today>
