Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) held the 'Opening Ceremony of Cheongun Center’ on the morning of October 12 at the Square in front of the center in Daeyeon Campus.
As Pukyong National University recently completed the full-scale remodeling of Cheongun Center, which is a learning library, the opening events such as the unveiling ceremony of the signboard and the tape-cutting ceremony were officially held today in the presence of President Jang Young-Soo, faculty, staff, and student representatives.
In order to provide a pleasant learning environment to students, Pukyong National University has been remodeling Cheongun Center with a business area of 6,527 ㎡ with one basement floor and four above the ground, from March last year with a total project cost of 9.7 billion won.
Built in 1980, Cheongun Center maximized the sense of openness by applying all-glass windows to the exterior with this construction. In addition, an entrance was added to allow students to freely move around, transforming it into an open study and relaxation space.
A study lounge was created along with a cafe on the first floor, an open reading room on the second floor, study rooms, an open reading room, and a rest lounge on the 3rd and 4th floors. The total capacity of the center is 1,250 people.
The space where the museum used to be located along with the special exhibition room, the history museum, the maritime and fisheries room, and the prehistoric archaeological room in the direction of the lawn plaza to avoid overlapping the movement lines with library users.
Pukyong National University plans to continuously provide a stable learning space for students, including the Cheongun Center and other campus libraries, ahead of the midterm exam period at the end of this month. <Pukyong Today>
