PKNU attracts attention by building an AI career consulting system

- operates 'AI-supported job competence analysis and personalized non-extracurricular program consulting platform'

"Hong Gil-Dong, your strengths and competencies are your job search preparation level and your confidence level in career decisions, and your lack of competencies are your confidence in decision-making and self-understanding. We recommend you the 'personal counseling program' as the priority."

Pukyong National University announced that it is operating a system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze students' strengths and weaknesses and recommends extracurricular programs personalized to students.

This is the 'AI-supported job competence analysis and personalized non-extracurricular program consulting platform' that Pukyong National University recently built in the form of a web page.

Once students access this platform and take a diagnostic test, six items related to career development preparation such as job search readiness level, confidence in personal relationship utilization, knowledge of major related job, self-understanding, confidence level in career decision, and confidence in decision-making, and strengths and weaknesses are indicated in scores and percentiles across 8 items related to professional values, including creativity, autonomy, use of talent, self-development, social service, remuneration, stability, and social recognition.

Based on the results of this test, AI recommends up to 10 extracurricular programs that can enhance students' strengths or make up for their weak capacity by priority list. Students can also check programs recommended by many students from the same college or department.

The programs AI recommends are 180 extracurricular programs run free of charge by Pukyong National University, excluding majors and liberal arts. Students can develop various competencies by participating in programs such as foreign language courses, career psychological counseling, volunteer activities, competitions, and job-finding and startups that are suitable for them according to AI recommendations.

Pukyong National University plans to have all 3,500 first-year students receive diagnosis through this AI platform by June 10 in connection with a compulsory subject called 'college life and career plan', and from next month, the university plans to expand the platform operation for all grades.

Kim Young-Mok, director of the student affairs office said, "Using this AI platform, we will expand support for expanding the program so that students can plan their career in advance from their freshman year and develop the necessary competencies during their campus life." <Pukyong Today>
