Pukyong National University in Busan (President Jang Young-Soo) opens Korea first anti-doping lecture.
Pukyong National University, the Korea anti-doping agency (KADA, chairman LEE Young-Hee), the World anti-doping agency (WADA, president Witold Ba?ka), and the Anti-doping research center (director David Pavot) of the university of Sherbrooke in Canada signed a business agreement on the afternoon of June 2 at the president's office on the 3rd floor of the administration building.
The agreement is aimed at expanding the base of anti-doping-related studies, establishing an anti-doping research center, and nurturing international sports administrators ahead of the 2025 WADA general assembly to be held in Busan in 2025.
Pukyong National University plans to open Korea's first anti-doping lecture next year with this agreement, following the special lecture invited by chairman Witold Ba?ka from WADA last year. This lecture is provided by KADA's standard textbook on anti-doping and will be opened in the Department of marine sports of the Smart healthcare division.
This 12-week course covers the history of doping, the World's anti-doping code, the operation of programs related to doping control, prohibited substances, cases of violation, and education in a systematic and professional manner.
Pukyong National University students can also complete the online degree course of the university of Sherbrooke in Canada, which is the only WADA-certified anti-doping master's degree course.
Pukyong National University and KADA are also preparing a capacity building program as an international sports administrator by preparing exchange programs for students and members from WADA and the International Olympic committee (IOC), who will attend the general meeting of WADA in 2025.
Professor Kim Dae-Hee of Pukyong National University (marine sports) said, "We will make efforts to strengthen cooperation in various fields such as gene doping, development of anti-doping programs using AI, legal systems, and policies by combining Pukyong National University's strengths in sports, medical engineering, and smart healthcare with the anti-doping field."
President Jang Young-Soo of Pukyong National University said, "We will create a virtuous cycle system that can develop together through the development of anti-doping-related studies, the development of human resources, and the development of local industries by building a cooperative network with the region and the world through industry-university cooperation with international organizations based on our university's specialized capabilities."
Kim Geum-Pyeong, secretary general of KADA, said, "I believe that this business agreement will serve as a global model that contributes to the expansion of the academic base of anti-doping and the cultivation of international talent through a stronger cooperation system with international organizations while emphasizing the importance of the anti-doping field at home and abroad." <Pukyong Today>
