Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) and universitas negeri Semarang (UNESS, president S Martono) of Indonesia held the focused group discussion (FGD) between Pukyong National University and 18 partner universities in Indonesia on June 22 at Hotel Tentrem Semarang in Indonesia.
This event, which was prepared to expand academic cooperation between Korea and Indonesia and strengthen knowledge and cultural exchanges, was attended by the presidents and vice-presidents from 18 Indonesian universities, including universitas negeri Semarang and the institut pertanian Bogor, as well as President Jang Young-Soo from Pukyong National University.
On this day, the participants discussed ways to promote exchanges and cooperation between Korea and Indonesia, such as education, research, students, and culture, and discussed the operation of exchange programs between Pukyong National University and partner universities in Indonesia.
Particularly, Puan Maharani, Speaker of the National Assembly of Indonesia, attended the event and encouraged, saying, "I expect that the educational cooperation between Indonesia and Korea will become even closer through this event. I believe that FGD can become an academic network between Indonesia and Korea for science education, innovation and technology development."
The event is a follow-up to international cooperation activities, such as awarding an honorary doctorate to Puan Maharani, the national assembly speaker, who visited Korea last November, and signing academic exchange agreements with eight universities that visited Korea together. As a result, Indonesian universities actively began to expand international academic exchanges and cooperation with Korea with Pukyong National University as their base.
President Jang Young-Soo said, "We are delighted to be partnering with Indonesia, and believe that this cooperation will contribute to strengthening the exchange of culture, research and innovation between the two countries and improving the quality of education in various fields."
Pukyong National University plans to continue cooperation with 18 partner universities, such as student exchange programs, research cooperation, international seminars, and workshops, starting with the meeting, and to expand international academic exchange activities targeting southeast asia. <Pukyong Today>
