PKNU trains local youth as professional traders
- selected as part of the 'GTEP·Glocal Trade Experts incubating Program' by the MOTIE
Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) announced that its division of international commerce was selected for the GTEP/glocal trade experts incubating program.
The GTEP project, hosted by the Ministry of trade, industry and energy and operated by the Korea international trade association, is a project related to industry-academia cooperation to foster young traders specialized in both global and local.
The goal of this project is to select 40 college students every year for three years from 2024 to 2026 and develop them into young traders who can carry out export marketing and e-commerce activities in specialized overseas regions based on practical trade knowledge and field experience.
After receiving a total of 600 hours of training in trade theory and practice, participants will have the opportunity to earn credits through domestic and overseas field training and participation in overseas fairs and exhibitions.
Participants will receive support for basic education and on-site training courses, as well as training fees, they will receive a trade expert certificate from the Minister of trade, industry and energy and a certificate from the Korea international trade association, as well as employment support benefits upon completion of all courses.
Pukyong National University was selected for this project by planning a business strategy specialized for the southeast asia region and will receive support of approximately 120 million won per year for three years. A total of 20 universities were selected for this project, including existing participating universities and new university project groups.
Professor Ahn Tae-Gun, leader of the PKNU YTP GTEP project, at department of international trade, Pukyong National University said, "We plan to discover outstanding students and nurture young trade experts who can connect the global and local regions through education specializing in the southeast asian region as well as trade practical training, smart logistics simulation, and e-commerce platform utilization."
