PKNU student published a paper in a top international academic journal in instruments & instrumentation

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) announced that master's student Park Se-Bin (department of industry 4.0 convergence bionics engineering) published a paper in <sensors and actuators B: chemical> (IF 8.4), a top international journal in the field of instruments & instrumentation.

 

Master's student Park Se-bin posted a thesis titled 'fully 3D-printed, nonelectric, spring-powered syringe pump for operating microfluidic devices' (advisor Shin Joong-Ho), which included research on the production of a portable syringe pump using 3D printing, in this international journal in January.

 

This international academic journal ranks in the top 0.8% of the Journal Citation Report (JCR) and is the top journal (1st place) among 63 papers in the instruments & instrumentation.

 

In this paper, Park Se-Bin presented a method of manufacturing a syringe pump with a 3D printer that is operated by a spring, does not require electricity, is precise, and is easy to carry.

 

A syringe pump is a device that supplies fluid at a constant volume and speed and requires high precision and portability to be used for various tests conducted in the field.

 

The torque driven (PRNTD) pump presented in this paper by Park Se-Bin not only maintains a consistent flow rate in the range of 1.4 μL/min to 12.0 μL/min, but can also be easily manufactured using a 3D printer. In addition, since it can be used even in situations without electricity, it has been shown to be applicable to various fields such as field detection, chemical synthesis, environmental testing, and healthcare.
