PKNU provides robust support to outstanding international students

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) held the Namchon scholarship certificate ceremony of 2024 on the afternoon of April 24 in the President’s office on the third floor of the university administration building.

On this day, former president Kang Nam-Joo presented scholarship certificates worth a total of 18.78 million won to 26 foreign students from the United States, China, Japan, Italy, Myanmar, Vietnam, and other nations who were selected as scholarship recipients.

The Namchon scholarship was established with a 300 million won development fund donated by former national assembly member Yoo Heung-Soo in 2021 to support the development of outstanding regional talents. At that time, former President Kang Nam-Joo played a significant role in securing this scholarship fund.

Pukyong National University has annually selected outstanding talents expected to contribute to the region and has awarded them the Namchon scholarship, and this year, to support the settlement and academic pursuits of international students, the university selected 26 students with excellent academic performance, granting each of them living support scholarships ranging from 600,000 to 800,000 won.

As of April, there are 1,678 international students from 71 countries enrolled in undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs, integrated master's and doctoral programs, exchange programs, and language courses at Pukyong National University.

Pukyong National University has been selected as a university certified for educational internationalization capabilities by the Ministry of education since 2014, and last year, both the degree program and the language training course were certified by 2026. <Pukyong Today>
