Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) has completed the development of a student-centered intelligent education support system based on AI (artificial intelligence), named 'Pukyong-AI', and has started its operation.

This system, which has been operating since this month, leverages on-campus data-based AI and big data technology to provide customized curricular and extracurricular search and recommendation services, maximizing the effectiveness of students' self-directed learning.

Pukyong National University has proactively taken actions to challenges related to student adaptation and precise student management have emerged as various systems and programs such as undeclared majors, student-designed majors, and extracurricular activities have expanded in universities.

Based on a detailed analysis of individual student data such as credits, grades, and competencies, this system recommends courses tailored to graduation requirements, similar users, and personal preferences, helping students make optimal course selections. Additionally, it provides extracurricular recommendation services based on the university's six core competencies to assist students in selecting and taking programs.

Moreover, the student-designed major, where students can design their own major and earn a degree by integrating various fields of study, supports one-stop services for application, consultation, review, and approval. Students can also use the customized search and recommendation services during the design process, making it effective.

From 2025, students entering without a declared major can use this system to receive recommendations for courses in their desired major and can be recommended a major based on their accumulated learning experience records, such as career and aptitude test results, during their university life.

Pukyong National University has analyzed and utilized academic big data within the university to provide optimal personalized information for each student and has developed and applied its own recommendation algorithm. It has also completed integration with existing academic administrative information systems and extracurricular operation services.

Joo Moon-Gap, director of Pukyong National University information and computer center, said, "By utilizing this system, we expect to provide students with the optimal information to make proactive decisions for their career paths, serving as a guide through their university life from admission to graduation." <Pukyong Today>
