The competition, held on November 27 at the Government Sejong Center, is a policy development model where citizens, government officials, experts, and service designers collaborate to design policies centered around the needs of the public.
Pukyong National University’s Department of Visual Design students Park Si-eun, Lee Ye-eun, Choi Joo-won, Ha Yun, and Hwang Seo-young, along with Industrial Design students Lee Ga-eun and Choi Su-myeong (supervised by Professor Nam Yun-tae and Industry-Academia Cooperation Professor Lee Jung-hee), collaborated with Kim Dong-ho, CEO of Design Naeil, and Choi So-yoon, service designer, to submit three projects, all of which received awards.
The project “Starting with Joy, Not Worry! The project “Self-Sufficiency Innovation Project, Elevate My Pride! All-live” which won the Silver Award (Prime Minister’s Award), was a self-sufficiency program project conducted with the city of Busan. It instilled pride in the participants by providing public welfare jobs and proposed a sustainable, circular system within the self-sufficiency program, which was recognized for its contribution.
The project “No More Formal Disability Awareness Training in the Workplace! Let’s Be BF(Barrier-free),” which won the Excellence Award (Minister of the Interior and Safety Award), collaborated with the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s Korea Disabled People’s Employment Agency to propose a new direction for disability awareness training in the workplace, gaining attention.
In particular, Pukyong National University and Design Naeil were recognized as exemplary cases of industry-academia cooperation that presented new possibilities for policy development and public service design, based on students’ creative ideas and the practical implementation capabilities of businesses.
Professor Nam Yun-tae (Department of Visual Design) stated, “I hope that through such industry-academia collaborations, students and businesses will continue to grow together, creating new opportunities to enhance public value.” <Pukyong Today>
