Pukyong National University, Holds ‘Harmony Event’ for Protected Youth

-Hope Ladder for Youth Harmony DAY / Mentoring … Over 120 University Students and Protected Youth Participants

Pukyong National University (President Bae Sang-hoon) held the “Youth Hope Ladder PKNU Guardian Harmony DAY (2nd edition) and Mentoring” event on November 30 at the Daeyun Campus Sports Field to help local protected youth improve their physical health and social adaptation.

This program was organized by the PKNU Guardian Student Volunteer Group, who invited local protected youth to the campus to engage in physical activities together and support their healthy development.

On the day of the event, over 60 members of the student volunteer group and staff teamed up with around 60 protected youth from the Mansa Youth Recovery Center to participate in a sports competition and mentoring activities.

Participants were divided into three mixed teams and engaged in physical activities such as soccer, dodgeball, mission runs, and relay races, fostering teamwork and support.

After the sports activities, the participants had a meal and tea, followed by one-on-one mentoring sessions where assigned mentors and mentees communicated and exchanged ideas. They also participated in a plogging activity for environmental cleanup around the Yongho Bay landfill pier area.

Kim Seung-min, a representative of the PKNU Student Volunteer Group (4th-year Economics), who participated in the event, shared, “Interacting directly with the youth and especially having sincere conversations through mentoring allowed me to connect with them more deeply. It was truly rewarding to feel that I could contribute, even in a small way, to their growth.”

Meanwhile, Pukyong National University has been hosting communication and exchange activities to support local protected youth every year since 2021, including the first Harmony DAY held on November 8, where they played a soccer match with protected youth from the Mansa Youth Recovery Center. <Pukyong Today>
