Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) has partnered with a semiconductor company to establish a department in the semiconductor field and nurture human resources in earnest.

The college of engineering in Pukyong National University (dean Wang Je-Pil) signed a business agreement with BTOZ Co.,Ltd (ceo Shin Jeong-Hoon, Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk) on the afternoon of September 28 in the middle meeting room of engineering building #1 to strengthen industrial competitiveness in the next-generation semiconductor field through strategic business alliances and cooperate in R&D and fostering innovative talents.

Through this agreement, BTOZ agreed to donate one each of MOCVD, a metal organic chemical vapor deposition gear, and HVPE, a hydride vapor phase epitaxy gear that are being operated in the field, to Pukyong National University. The new value of these devices amounts to 5 billion won.

Pukyong National University and BTOZ decided to use these gears to discover joint industry-university R&D tasks, carry out industry-university projects, and nurture professional manpower. In addition, Pukyong National University plans to train human resources in the next-generation semiconductor field and strive to open and operate educational courses that reflect corporate demands.

Through this agreement, Pukyong National University plans to establish a semiconductor department and graduate school from 2024, focusing on nurturing 250 semiconductor experts annually, including 50 undergraduate and 200 graduate students.

With this agreement, Pukyong National University is able to actively promote the plan for the semiconductor-related departments such as nanotechnology engineering, materials engineering, materials systems engineering, display semiconductor engineering as well as while opening new departments based on the human and material infrastructure pursued by the ‘semiconductor major track' and ‘human resources training research group for smart green fusion & convergence materials’ operated as a government financial support project for the semiconductor field. <Pukyong Today>
