PKNU and KOTEC Join Hands for Volunteer Service

Pukyong National University (President Bae Sang-hoon) and the Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC, Chairman Kim Jong-ho) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on May 27 at the university’s main administration building to promote social contribution through educational outreach and regional cooperation.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will work together to develop and implement joint volunteer activities and other community engagement initiatives, with the goal of establishing a sustainable framework for ongoing social contribution.

As their first joint initiative, Pukyong National University and KOTEC will launch a local learning support program for youth in collaboration with the LG Metro Jageun Ssamtido Library (Director Kim Mi-jin) in Nam-gu, Busan, near the university campus.

Student volunteers from PKNU’s Volunteer Corps will serve as mentors for local elementary and middle school students, while KOTEC plans to provide scholarships to support the participating university students.

In addition, the two institutions plan to carry out various collaborative projects, including the formation and operation of a joint volunteer group, hosting science quiz competitions for children, organizing career experience programs for both university students and local youth, and launching environmental clubs with climate education initiatives.

The two institutions also agreed to jointly plan and develop programs related to educational outreach and regional cooperation. They will continue to collaborate on projects that create social value by sharing infrastructure, including facilities, human networks, and knowledge resources.

Meanwhile, Pukyong National University is actively engaged in social contribution and community outreach both locally and internationally through various volunteer programs, including its flagship PKNU Student Volunteer Corps. <Pukyong Today>
