It was reported at KBS, Busan on July 5th at 9 P.M. that there were 11 professors in the University of Technology who are alumni of PKNU. There are many talented Vietnamese individuals in the University of Technology, including Professor Puk who is the Vice-President of the University of Technology.

In other words, after Vietnamese students had studied their doctorate in PKNU, they became University of Technology professors.

KBS reported that Professor Puk is one of the most competent professors. He learned mechanical engineering in PKNU which is one of the most popular fields of study in Vietnam. Therefore, many Vietnamese students, especially the Department of Technology students, want to study the courses of their major in depth by coming to Busan, Korea to study.

It was the second time that KBS reporter Kang Ji Ah visited Vietnam to feature the globalization of the companies in Busan. The headline of this news was ‘Pro-Busan for omnidirectional diplomacy’, and the main content in this article was, “11 professors among University of Technology professors are alumni of PKNU”.

However, Kim Sang Bong, a Professor of the Department of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering was on the second page so unfortunately he did not make headline news.

The Vietnamese government awarded a medal for education to Kim Sang Bong last January, and he was appointed as a lifetime honorary professor in the University of Technology. This was primarily due to the fact that he contributed to the advancement of engineering education for Vietnamese technology students by instructing the engineering education of PKNU.

It was the first time that the Vietnamese government awarded a medal to a foreign professor, and he was even appointed as a lifetime honorary professor in the national university. This article showed that the Vietnamese government has an extreme interest in its education.

He decided to start instructing how to teach engineering education students after meeting Vietnamese students studying in PKNU in 1996. He had many Vietnamese students at that time, and 11 students among them became University of Technology professors. After that, he was recognized as being the best in his teaching field.

The officials of the College of Engineering in the University of Technology have consulted him in all matters related to the field of engineering, including the process of the engineering education and the related conference. Also, they regard the College of Engineering in PKNU as a role model.

As a result of the abovementioned reasons, there are currently 26 Vietnamese students studying in PKNU including 1 undergraduate student, 13 Masters students and 11 students in the doctoral course. Also there is one student studying to be a researcher to be the next professor Puk. Therefore, they are studying so hard, staying up all night on campus in PKNU. <Pukyong Today>
