The futurologist of worldwide fame, John Naisbitt said that people should approach an object asking why. He said it brings him to the amazing experience of discovery and gives him a lot of energy to write many books.
John Naisbitt said the above in a special lecture for Pukyong National University students after he was granted an honorary international area studies doctorate in the administration building of PKNU with his wife Doris Naisbitt on the morning of 11th September.
John Naisbitt is one of the world’s most famous futurologists, along with Alvin Toffler, and he wrote ’Mega Trend" which has sold more than 14 million copies all over the world.
On this day, Doris Naisbitt also picked ’interest and passion’ as the key to success. "To know what I like the most is very important. Living a life that suits me is a way to get consistent energy,’ she said.
Doris Naisbitt, who is the co-author of John Naisbitt’s book, is also a famous futurologist and global trend analyst. The bestselling books handling about China’s development as a competitive country on the world stage such as "Mega trend China’, ’China on The Air" are joint works of Mr and Ms Naisbitt.
John Naisbitt said he feels sad when he sees that the G20 summit doesn’t appear to solve international problems, but instead just wastes money. He also mentioned that the tries to solve international problems occurred by Western countries are not effective anymore.
"The problem with the international organizations is that leaders of participating countries are approaching the problem in an old-fashioned way, like attempting to win in the domestic election, and regarding international problems as domestic ones is the main reason that the problems still exist," Doris Naisbiit said.
John Naisbitt said that China has various problems such as environment pollution, but the country still has hope that they can try to solve problems in their own way when he see the trial process of Bo Xilai case. He added that China has some difficulty to catch up to America in the 21st Century, but it is hard to discuss the future economic levels of countries as the worldwide economic integration is ongoing.
Doris Naisbitt mentioned the influence of SNS toward China that SNS has power as much as communist party in China, so politicians using SNS as a political tool to shake public opinions.
She also said that world relations are moving to developing countries such as Africa, Latin America, and especially Asia as de-westernization is going on.
John Naisbitt predicts the main trends from the 1990’s and early 21st century such as the transformation toward an information-oriented society, raising Asia, and more women presidents in his book ’Mega Trend’…He also discusses handling big waves of modern society, such as post-industry society and the global economy.
He used to be an executive in multinational corporations such as IBM, and he was the special advisor of former US President Lyndon Johnson. He has also been granted honorary doctorates in 17 fields including politics, humanities, science, and engineering.
