Professor In-Pil Kang, Selected as the Most Quoted Thesis TOP 10 in an International Academic Journal
- The international academic journal gave a certificate of appreciation from ’Composites Part B:Engineering’

The thesis of professor In-Pil Kang, who is a professor in the mechanical & automotive engineering department of Pukyong National University, was selected as the most quoted thesis TOP 10.

On October 8th, PKNU announced that professor Kang got the certificate of appreciation from the international academic journal ’Composites Part B:Engineering’ as his thesis had been selected in the TOP 10 of the most quoted papers which had been published in the journal.

The subject of this thesis is ’Introduction to Carbon Nanotube and Nanofiber Smart Materials’.

This thesis was selected as one of the ten most quoted, from 1991 when the international academic journal ’Composites Part B:Engineering’ published as the first to 2012. This journal is a professional SCI-level one published by Elsevier which is one of the world’s three biggest academic journals specializing in science.
Professor Kang explained the results of a about the engineering application of carbon nanotube which is becoming famous as a ‘Nano Material’.

Professor Kang introduced the study result by explaining the strain sensor of mechanism or artificial muscle using carbon nanotube as a smart composite.

Carbon nanotube has characteristics of strong strength. It is one hundred times stronger than steel and it has good electrical and heat conductivity. As the professor used its characteristics for study about a robot’s actuator and sensor for condition diagnosis of structure, he could produce results that demonstrated that the development process became simpler and that energy efficiency rose.

Professor Kang’s thesis had also previously been selected as the most downloaded thesis by an international academic journal ’Smart Materials and Structures’ with his thesis ’A carbon nanotube strain sensor for structural health monitoring’ in 2007. <Pukyong Today>
