PKNU, takes first place in employment rates among national universities in ‘Ga’ group
- Recorded 52.3% employment rate in 2014 … proved to be a dominant position of academic specialization

Pukyong National University recorded the top ranked employment rate among national universities with more than 3000 graduates.
According to the results of employment statistical survey of graduates of higher educational institutions in 2014, and announced by Korean Educational Development Institute, Pukyong National University took first place among nine national universities, recording a 52.3% employment rate. This employment rate is based on the number of employed graduates as of June 1st, among students who graduated between August 2013 and February 2014.
Pukyong National University was followed by Busan National University (52%), Chonnam National University (51.4%), KyungPook National University (49.7%), Chungnam National University (48.5%), Kangwon National University (48.25%), Chungbuk National University (47.7%), Kongju National University (47.2%) and Chonbuk National University (47.1%). Seoul National University, incorporated in April 2014, recorded 31%.
“Pukyong National University is the only school in group ‘Ga’ without a college of medicine, dental college, college of pharmacy, law school or college of education which are all advantageous to employment statistics among national universities”, according to director Park Hyun Ki of the Human Resources Development Group at PKNU. “PKNU’s top ranked employment rate, in spite of these unfavorable conditions, proves its prominent academic characterization.”
The high employment rate of Pukyong National University was remarkable in the department of Nursing, Ocean Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
Pukyong National University is now offering employment support services, on demand from entrance to graduation, to help graduates enter the working world. These services include the Self Development and Career Planning program for first and second year students, the Employment Strategy Program for upper year students, and the Career Design for Women Program aimed at female students. These programs offer training in employment subjects and various programs for improving communication and increasing employability.
In addition, PKNU runs the University Student Employment Center in cooperation with Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Student Career Management System for the development of portfolios.
