'Attention' Performance of PKNU LINC+ project team and industry-academia cooperation. "PKNU LINC+ Business Group signed a contract with the industry for technology transfer of about 1.7 billion won in 80 cases last year," said Seo Yong-cheol, director of LINC+ business at PKNU on January 24, at the Haeundae Grand Hotel in Busan, where 250 people including professors, students, and business people attended the presentation of the first industry-academy cooperation result presentation. The LINC+ business is a government-sponsored project in which the university builds an industry-university cooperation system based on its specialization capabilities, which is tailored to the needs of the enterprise, and fosters human resources to meet the needs of businesses projects for regional economic development. PKNU has been carrying out business with emphasis on industry-academia cooperation and local economy revitalization with participation of 398 professors and 12470 students from 45 departments since the project was selected last year. The representative achievement of this project is "Development of zinc-metal powder and zinc-ingot manufacturing technology more than 2N grade from cast iron melting process by product which was selected as the best industry-university joint project in 2017 at the performance presentation. This project, jointly conducted by Professor Wang Jae-pil (Dept. of Metallurgical Engineering) of PKNU and High-Self-Esteem (CEO Jung Hyun-woo), is to recover high purity zinc from cast iron dissolved dust, which is a waste resource, to develop zinc powder and zinc ingot (ingot: the melted metal put and hardened in a frame). This technology, which was first developed in Korea, was promoted to commercialization after patent application, and it was evaluated that it could contribute to creation of new industry in zinc manufacturing field and localization of zinc fuel as dry technology field. In this presentation, there were also announcements and prizes of best practices of industry-academy cooperation talent training programs in which students participated in the capstone design contest, employment and entrepreneurship education, and on-the-job training as well as industry-university joint project performance. On this day, joint technical exchange meeting was held with the cooperation of PKNU LINC+ Project team, Engineering college, Industry-Academia collaboration foundation, Foundation support center, and Industry-Academia research complex development project team to promote technical cooperation with family and resident companies. <Pukyong Today> |
