Pukyong National University attracts attention by creating a unique map that can see famous places of marine city of Korea such as Busan at a glance.

It is the 'Marine City Humanities Map' produced by the Core Project Enterprice Organization (Chief director Jeong Hae-jo) of Pukyong National University.

The 'Maritime City Humanities Map', which the project team made as a web page, utilizes Google Maps. If you choose a marine city such as Busan, you will see an enlarged map showing the places of interest in the area.

The information on the sights is provided by the students of the "Humanities Mapping Team" who visited the places of interest directly, and the records of the visits are included with the photos so that they can look into the history of the area.

For example, if you select the 'Jagalchi Market' on the map, you will find a photo of the scene, including transportation, food prices, convenience facilities, and the visitor's real reviews, as well as photos of the scene, titled 'Jagalchi Festival that makes Busan the most exciting in a year.'

The project team that made the map production in October last year produced the Busan Humanities Map for the first time and published it on the web page 'marinemap.pknu.ac.kr'. It shows currently about 65 places to visit in Busan, including Jagalchi Market.

From July, the project team will begin producing maps of Busan and then making maps nationwide. The project team dispatches a "Human Map Guidance Team" consisting of 30 students from Pukyong National University, Department of Korean Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, Japanese Language and Literature, International and Area Studies, Department of History, and Chinese Studies to all over the country.

The production team will explore maritime cities across the country, including Changwon, Tongyoung, Incheon, Ulsan, Gangneung, Namhae, Yeosu, Mokpo, and Dangjin with the theme of people, streets, architecture, landscapes, festivals, events and histories.

In addition, a 'places dictionary production team' is operated separately for Busan, the representative maritime city in Korea. The team plans to explore 76 sites in 5 different themes, including lighthouses, fishing villages, history and festivals.

Not only Pukyong students but also anyone can participate in the production of humanities map and place dictionary. You can sign up as a web page member and submit your application online. <Pukyong Today>
