It is noteworthy that Korean college students who have participated in the activities of meeting Korean war veterans have been widely reported in the British press.

The main subject of the talk was 15 members of the 'Pukyong UN Supporters Representative (An Tae-un ‧ 3rd grade of Department of International Commerce) Peace Corps volunteered by the Pukyong National University (President Kim Young-seup) in Namgu, Busan, South Korea.

At a local Manchester hotel on the afternoon of January 7, they were accompanied by eleven veterans, including Brian Hough, head of the British Korean War Veterans Association's Manchester Branch.

On this day, the students read the letter of appreciation in front of the veterans of the 80s, conveyed appreciation plaques, and grateful to those who kept the country from war. Some veterans watching the events of the students showed tears.

Pukyong National University is located in the world's only UN cemetery located next to UN Memorial Park in Busan Namgu Daeyeon dong. UN supporters spend their lives in the battle of the Korean War and are waging peace activities such as wreathing and waving to honor the sacrifices of the sleeping warriors.

"We are amazed and grateful to Pukyong students who come to Korea without forgetting us and who are taking care of our chiefs who have fallen asleep in Korea," said Brian Hough, a veteran of the war veterans.

The event was attended by Mayor Denise Ward of Manchester Tamside, who welcomed the visit of the Pukyong students and the local media, including the British BBC, were interested in the news.

Mayor Dennis Ward presented a letter of appreciation to the students and said, "We will continue our education and campaign to bring the sacrifices of our veterans to our generations as a result of this Pukyong students' visit."

The Manchester newspaper <Tameside Reporter> introduced the news of Korean college students to the cover story titled 'South Korean students give thanks war veterans'.

An An Tae-un representative of Pukyong UN Supporters said, "It was heartbreaking when I reminded the fact that they came to the Korean peninsula more than 70 years ago, and guarded us from the dead."

The Volunteer Corps, which was founded in 2009, carries out the events of taking care of the souls of the warriors buried in UN Memorial Park and visiting the 6,25 war veterans of the world. Britain was the country that sent 56,000 people to the 6.25 war. Among them, 1,177 were killed and 884 of them were buried in UN Memorial Park. <Pukyong Today>
