Pukyong students, 30 days of sailing training via Russia, Japan and China

Pukyong National University (President Kim Young-seup) held a departing ceremony for the 63rd Sea vessel sailing practice at pier of Yongho Bay, Busan, at 3 pm on June 26.

It is a curriculum that learns the theory that ship sailing and marine engineer students learned during lecture while sailing on a practical ship.

99 students, including 67 students, advisor and crew, from three departments including Pukyong National University's Marine Production System Management, Fisheries Education were participated in the sailing training.
 
They will depart from Busan on the Pukyong National University training ship, Vessel Gaya (1,737 ton ‧ Captain, professor Lee Jong-geun) , and will go on a 30-day training course from Vladivostok Port in Russia, Port of Hiroshima in Japan, via Port of Qingdao in China, and returning to Busan on the 25th of next month.

In this course, Pukyong students will learn ship safety, SMCP (standard marine communication phrases), and marine production techniques such as navigational planning, sailing, steering control system, communication equipment operation, ship stability and pollution prevention.

Especially, they land at each port of call and have local cultural exploration and student exchange events and cultivate international exchange ability. On July 1, they will enter the port of Vladivostok, Russia and look around the water and marine cultural facilities of this port city. On the 9th, students will enter the Hiroshima Port of Japan, and with the students from Hiroshima University will enter the Port of Qingdao, China on the 17th, and exchange events will be held with students from China Maritime University.
