Pukyong National University's Feed Nutrition Research Institute (Head chief, Bae Seung-cheol, professor of Marine Bio-Materials and Aquaculture) has begun full-scale training for four researchers from the National Fisheries Research Institute of Algeria to invite the 'Algeria shrimp farming production capacity enhancement project' on July 3. This training course is a part of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to promote Korea's excellent aquaculture technology, to establish a sustainable shrimp farming industry in Algeria and to promote the economic development of Algeria 's official development assistance (ODA) Manufacturing capacity enhancement project. Participants of this course will stay at Pukyong National University for 4 months until October and conduct training on theories, laboratory exercises, field trips to shrimp farms and fish farms. These are key researchers working in shrimp feed mills in the Sahara Desert of Algeria. Pukyong National University's Feed Nutrition Research Institute plans to provide them with lectures on △feed nutrition and metabolism, △ feed technology △ as well as lectures on professional theory and improvement of shrimp compound feed, △ breeding and experimentation, △ sampling and analysis of fish. The head chief Mr.Bae said. "We will do our best to develop customized technology capabilities in Algeria using the research capacity, professional manpower and advanced equipments possessed by the Feed and nutrition research institute of Pukyong National University, which is a government-designated food quality inspection authority." Meanwhile, in cooperation with KOICA, the National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) and KOICA launched the Algeria shrimp farming technology transfer project in 2008 and following the establishment of the Shrimp Farming Research Center in Algeria, by Dr.Jang In-gwon (Head chief, National Institute of Fisheries Science, formerly named West Sea Fisheries Research Institute) in 2016, it has been supporting the development of shrimp farming industry in Algeria through ODA projects such as completion of shrimp culture research center <Pukyong Today> |
