Pukyong National University students will start volunteering abroad, teaching Korean and Korean culture at Mongolian Elementary School and planting trees.

Pukyong National University held an opening ceremony of the 12th PKNU Overseas Volunteers (representative Kim Jae-won, 3rd grade in Business Administration) at Hyorim Hall, Mirae Building, on July 19th.

The 23 students of the volunteers will go to Mongolia on the 21st following the ceremony on the day, and will go to the Education Office of Төв aймaг (Tuv Aimag) and the 4th elementary school of Зуунмод (Zuun mode) to volunteer for 19 days until the 8th of next month.

Since 2013, Pukyong University has been sending overseas volunteers to Mongolia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and other places improving summer and winter vacations every year since 2013 in order to develope students' personality and global competence.

In particular, this year, the Education Office of Tuv Aimag in Mongol, which has been conducting joint volunteer activities for a few years, will extend the service period by three days then last winter vacation.

Pukyong students will stay in local areas during their volunteer period, and they carry out educational activities such as teaching Korean language, art and music to 4th elementary school students, and teach cultural activities such as Korean traditional culture, Korean cultural service, and talent presentation.

At the same time, in order to create a pleasant educational environment, the volunteer corps will purchase 60 fir trees and plant them around the school, and will also carry out voluntary service such as repairing school facilities such as dormitories and basketball courts.

Kim Jae-won, a student representative of the volunteers, said, "Through this activity, I would like to plant trees and exchange with students and give my Mongolian friends a good impression of our country. We will work hard to build good memories of Mongolia." <Pukyong Today>
