"The university will help you to develop the original technology to overcome Japan." The support team has been assigned more than 400 teachers exclusively appointed by major industrial materials such as cutting-edge materials, material processing, and offshore since last 12th. They help SMEs develop their original technologies in 159 material sectors, which are heavily influenced by Japan's export regulations, among 1,194 major industrial sectors. Companies who need technical assistance should fill out the application form through the Pukyong National University’s Industry-University Cooperation Foundation's 'Economic Support Group for Southern Small and Medium-sized Enterprises' (http://sh.pknu.ac.kr), and then apply for an application for consultation, the company can consult with a professor in the relevant field for help. Technical support is part of the government funding program, so there is no cost to the company except in special cases. It is expected that the operation of the support team will be mobilized by the capacity of the Pukyong University Dragon Valley (Yongdang Campus), which has opened a whole campus to businesses and has emerged as the most active industry-academy cooperation and start-up center in Southeast. There are currently 341 companies in operation and working with Pukyong National University researchers. Sunje Hi-Tech Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Dong-hoon, Professor of Safety Engineering, Pukyong National University), who developed a static elimination device and completely subdued Japanese products, started with five employees here at Dragon Valley. The company has grown into small champion enterprise with 110 employees and annual sales of 30 billion won. As the operation of technical advisory boards becomes known, the interest of companies is increasing. Recently, Company 'H' was asking for help from Pukyong National University, saying that they are having difficulty in developing a decanter noise reduction device for centrifuge, and connected with Professor Kim Chan-joong (Dept. of Mechanical Design Engineering). Professor Kim said, “It is judged that noise reduction can be achieved by an appropriate mount design or by installing a separate damper.” Pukyong National University gathers the technical support management that has been conducted by each institution as the “Southeast SME Technical Support Group” to help companies effectively utilize the expertise and research capabilities of various financial support teams and researchers. Seo Yong-cheol, head of Pukyong National University’s Industry-University Cooperation, said, “The problems that are difficult to solve in the short term among the difficult technologies of SMEs will be promoted through joint industry-university research projects." <Pukyong Today> |
