The 70th Pukyong CEO Happy Humanities Concert, Pukyong National University’s lecture program for humanities, was held at Somin Hall on the 2nd floor of the Future Hall at Pukyong National University on September 19 at 7:00 am.

The lecture was held with more than 100 CEOs from Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, including “The Gods of Olympos (Ⅱ) -Children of Zeus”, and the lecturer was Kang Dae-jin, an affiliated professor of Western classical science (Hongik University).

Professor Kang said, “Love stories of Greek gods have often become the subject of Western literature, paintings, sculptures and music. This is why it is essential to know the love stories of the gods in order to understand Western cultural products.”

He added that myths are pre-moral situations, so we must understand that a very explicit situation emerges as the original content clashes.

Remember the love stories of the gods that belonged to the children of Zeus that he introduced.

<Apollon> Remember that Apollon is always described as a young man. They have a bow with music that young people learn and a musical instrument called Lyra. Apollon doesn’t get his beloved partner very well. Although she loved a girl named Daphne, she became a laurel because of fear of Apollon. Apollon still loved the girl after she turned into a tree, making laurel her symbol. Meanwhile, Tityus, who is trying to rape Apollon’s mother, Lete, is punished by being eaten by an eagle in the underworld. This symbolizes lust coming from the liver.

<Artemis> Apollon’s twin sister Artemis is the god of hunting. A young man named Aktaeon encountered Artemis, who was just taking a bath, but turned into a deer and was torn by his hound. Rather than turning into a real deer, this scene is often interpreted as a disaster that can occur when someone who is not yet ready suddenly comes into with the sacred. Give meaning rather than direct interpretation and read as symbols!

<Athens> Athens is the patron saint of the Greek capital, Athenae. Born from Zeus’ head without her mother. Hephaestus loved her and acted hastily and buried a male seed on the goddess’s thigh. The goddess wiped it with wool and threw it on the ground, there, Erichthónĭus, whose lower body is a snake, was born.

<Hephaistus> Hephaistus is the god of fire and smithy. He limps his legs. His wife is Aphrodite. The wife of the ugly god is the most beautiful and the most uncomfortable god is the most talented. This scene shows the sense of balance among the Greeks.

<Aphrodite> Aphrodite is the god of love. It has all the attributes of love, from beauty and tenderness to the power of deception and temptation. Eros accompanies.

<Ares> Ares, the god of war, is a child between Zeus and Hera. Knowing that Aphrodite’s husband, Hephaistus, went to work, he went to share a secret meeting and was embarrassed before several gods because he was caught in an invisible net. It is a scene that shows the balance of the Greeks that combines the war that kills everything and the love that gives birth to everything.

<Hermes> Hermes, a messenger of the gods of Olympos, expressed envy that he wanted to lie down with Aphrodite even though he was embarrassed. Eventually, there is a child named Herm Aphroditos between Hermes and Aphrodite. Depicted as unisex with female breasts on male lower body.

<Dionysus> Dionysus is the god of wine. Taken out of the mother Semela’s belly and reborn on the thighs of Zeus. The man is born from both man woman, and has a neutral tendency.

Meanwhile, the 71th lecture of Pukyong CEO Happy Humanities Concert will be followed by a lecture by Honorary Professor Lee Hee-soo, entitled “Understanding the Middle East situation and Islamic culture,” at 7am 10th of october.
