Pukyong National University is interested in providing full support to raise firms operating in the university into a startup that is worth more than KR 1 trillion Won, a 'Unicorn company.'

Pukyong National University Industry-University Foundation (CEO Seo Yong-cheol) held the launching ceremony of 'Pukyong Unicorn Forum (co-chairman Kim Young-seop, President of and Lee Chae-yoon, CEO of Leeno Industrial Inc.)' at the lounge on the 1st floor of the Dongwon Jang bogo hall in Daeyeon Campus.

The Pukyong Unicorn Forum is composed of the Chief Technology Officers (CTOs) of the mid-sized companies in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam area, and the resident firms of Pukyong National University which consult with them.

The Forum, designed to provide growth platforms for firms and family companies in Dragon Valley, a new industry-academic cooperation and start-up platform for Pukyong National University, has six companies that have pursued technology management in each specialty field, including materials, parts, and equipment, the representatives participate as mentors to support junior companies by sector.

Including Lee Chae-yoon who is co-chairman of the forum and CEO of Leeno Industrials Inc., a semiconductor inspection socket specialist company, Lee Baek-cheon, an honorary chairman of  Binex, a pharmaceutical company, CEO Lee Sang-joon of Fine Inc., a company specializing in automobiles and related equipment, Lim Dae-hui, CEO of shoe company, Sungshin global, Oh Rin-tae, CEO of Ideun Tech, and Lee Dong-hoon, CEO of Sunjae Hi-Tech, CTOs from mid-sized companies representing Busan ,Ulsan and Gyeongnam participate as mentors.

They conduct regular mentoring for more than 20 companies in campus and family companies participating in the forum to assist in resolving corporate difficulties and teach corporate management know-how.

Pukyong National University plans to provide administrative and financial support for mentoring and entrepreneurs' mentoring process and expand the linkage between forums and industry-academia-related networks.

At the opening ceremony of the forum that morning, Pukyong National University appointed six corporate representatives as honorary dean of the Pukyong National University's Engineering College, and mentoring in the afternoon.

The university president Kim Young-seop said, "We hope that Pukyong National University's in-campus companies will grow from universities to unicorn companies by providing an opportunity for the representatives and junior entrepreneurs who have built a sound company through this forum to share experiences and solve difficult problems." <Pukyong Today>
