Professor Choi Jae-soo (age 65, Dept. of Food Science and Nutrition), Pukyong National University, posted the topic of 'Corona 19 preventive measures' recently posted on the university's internal administration network.

Professor Choi, a food nutritionist, emphasized in this article that corona19 preventive measures include "Washing hands, wearing a mask, and coughing etiquette should be basically followed, and efforts to increase the individual's susceptibility to illness are important."

Susceptibility is the nature of accepting and feeling the stimuli of the external factors, the ability to quickly recognize and cope with the invasion of a pathogen.

Corona 19 does not become infected with all of the infections that have come into contact with the patient, as in the case of SARS or MERS. Therefore, steadily carrying out the work of increasing individual susceptibility to disease can be the most important key to overcoming disease.

Professor Choi emphasized, "In order to increase personal susceptibility illnesses, individuals must first become experts in food."

"Happy life is impossible without the right information and knowledge about food," he said, "Recognize that safe and healthy foods and their ingredients have a positive effect on the expression of genes and ultimately change the health of the individual, so you need to eat right."

Furthermore, he said, "You need to stay healthy through constant, regular and moderate exercise every day." and he added, "You should also eat slowly, chew, and eat a wide variety of healthy foods while eating, avoiding binge eating, eating late, overeating, and spicy and or strong-tasting foods."

Especially, “We maintain regular dietary habits to keep a regular size of your meal and mealtime, reducing insulin resistance as much as possible, so that metabolic adult diseases such as diabetes do not occur. "We also need to increase the personal susceptibility both internally and externally by keeping them warm in the cold and cool in the hot.", he said.

Professor Choi's major is food hygiene and pharmacology. He graduated from department of Pharmaceutical Science at Pusan National University and received his Ph.D. in Pharmacy from Seoul National University. He has become a professor at Pukyong National University in 1986. He has published more than 400 papers (SCI-level 300) at home and abroad, and he has applied for 10 patents. <Pukyong Today>
