A successful starting of the Social Contribution Volunteer Corps for 'Home repairing · Briquette sharing · Global volunteering' On the day, 50 volunteers including Kim Jin-hyeong, the representative of the Volunteer Corps (3rd grade, Dept of safety engineering), received a letter of appointment and had officially started volunteering activities. The Volunteer Corps is a student volunteer organization that has been operated by Pukyong National University since 2018 by integrating existing Eco Volunteer Corps and Global volunteer Corps. Their role is to help their neighbors and contribute to society through regular volunteer activities every month, along with various seasonal events such as volunteer activities in rural and fishing villages. They provide volunteer services including 'Love of House Repairing' to the vulnerable groups who lives in residential areas located near the university and provide volunteer services to help rural communities and fishing villages where there is understaffed. During vacations, they visit overseas underdeveloped areas to provide volunteer services such as supporting Korean language education, etc., and they also provide briquette sharing voluntary work that deliver briquettes to vulnerable families in the winter. The Volunteer Corps plans to set up an annual volunteering plan by group as well as an event-type volunteering work, and regularly promote its own volunteering works such as talent donation and environmental clean-up. The University President Kim Young-seup of Pukyong National University said, "I hope this will be an opportunity for students to cooperate and understand each other through steady volunteer work and find the meaning of living with their neighbors." <Pukyong Today> |
