Busan City accelerates the build of a smart-cluster at PKNU The place is located in the Fisheries and Marine Science Research Complex of Pukyong National University in Dongbaek-ri, Ilgwang-myeon, Gijang-gun. It is an unprecedented new attempt to innovate the entire aquaculture industry by fusion of marine and new industries, with a total cost of 40 billion won (22 billion won in national expenses, 12 billion won in municipal expenses, and 6 billion won in private investment). The goal is to make a test bed and back-ground for a smart style that is automated and intelligent with the 4th industrial revolution technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and big data. The goal is to maximize competitiveness by advancing the aquaculture industry based on advanced technology that automatically controls the water temperature, water quality, and feed supply of the farm. Busan City selected and formed a private corporation for this project in May last year. The corporation is the Busan Smart-Cluster Agency. In December, the 'Implementation Agreement for the Busan Smart-Cluster Construction Project' was signed between Busan City, Pukyong National University, and the project Agency. Under the terms of this agreement, the Agency must complete the transfer of ownership and donation proceedings to Pukyong National University upon completion of the test bed building. In addition, research and commercialization studies that apply the 4th industrial revolution technology to the fisheries field using test beds will be jointly promoted in consultation with Pukyong National University. This project is planned to be built as a smart-cluster by 2022 as a 1st stage, and will operate programs such as data collection, R&D, manpower training, and eventually become universal as a leading model through test beds. In the 2nd stage, the project will be expanded in stages, including support for private companies to move into the background land and in the 3rd stage, a large-scale and high-tech fisheries industrial complex will be built with production, distribution, processing, export, and tourism by 2025. This project was the final project selected by the Busan Metropolitan Government in January 2019 for the public contest of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. <Pukyong Today> |
