Jeong Hye-wook of PKNU, has published 『Cultural Translation and Theoretical Frame of Judith Butler...』
Gender theorist 'Judith Pamela Butler's commentary on later writings

A commentary on the perspective of cultural translation has been published on the later work of world-renowned gender and queer theorist Judith Butler, which has drawn public attention.

It is 'Cultural Translation and Theoretical Frame of Judith Butler' (Doseo Chulpan3, 350 pages) published by Jeong Hye-wook, a lecturer at Pukyong National University (Dept. of English Language and Literature).

Judith Butler, the professor of California State University, who published 『Gender Trouble』 in 1990, had a great impact on feminism and gender research, and emerged as a star scholar.

Lecturer Jeong Hye-wook noted that most of the domestic studies dealing with Judith Butler are limited to Butler's early works, and published the results of research on almost all works published by Butler since 2000.

In this book, she approaches Judith Butler's later writings from the perspective of cultural translation and examines the significance of Judith Butler's work in cultural, geographic and political context.

"The way people think Judith Butler is a scholar who is only interested in gender and sex is to understand only half of his theory. Before and after the September 11, 2011, Butler began to focus on all vulnerable and endangered lives beyond the feminism and gender categories." She explained.

This book presents what cultural translation is to Judith Butler, how contemporary theorists influence Judith Butler's theory, and how it relates to the subject of cultural translation.

Along with this, the history and conception of cultural translation is described at the front of the book to help readers understand, and for the readers who are new to Judith Butler, a description of his major works and terms is added at the back. <Pukyong Today>
