PKNU students won the Busan Patent Strategy Competition of 2020 Choi Won-yi (completed a doctoral course) of the Department of Spatial Information Engineering at Pukyong National University was awarded the grand prize of 1.5 million won in prize money at this recent competition held jointly by Regional Intellectual Property Center of Busan (RIPC) and Kyungnam College of Information & Technology. The Busan Patent Strategy Competition, which marks its 3rd year this year, is a competition in which companies present problems and undergraduate (graduate) students from local universities present creative patent strategies. In this year's competition, 112 teams from 9 universities in Busan participated and competed with the questions which 17 companies from Busan including Daesun Distilling Co.,Ltd, Panasia Co.,Ltd, Conotec Co.,Ltd set questions about 7 strategic industries in Busan. Choi Won-yi was praised for the market trends reviews and related patent research trends for technologies related to scrubber washing water treatment of ships proposed by Panasia Co., Ltd., and she selected core patents related to scrubber washing water treatment, presented appropriate patent strategies to the relevant companies. Along with this, each students team of 3rd graders Kim Hyo-jin and Park Soo-hyeon of the Department of Mechanical Design, 4th grader Park Jae-eun from Material Science and Engineering, the 4th graders team of Ahn Yong-hoon, Jang Woo-seok, and Park Min-hwa from Material Science and Engineering, and 4th grader Lee Cho-woo from Mechanical Engineering, were awarded the top prize and prize money of 1 million won in this competition. Meanwhile, Pukyong National University participated in this competition as a part of the employment-linked Group Program for IP Regional Talent Training Project (Director Yang Ji-young, Professor of Food Science & Technology) and achieved excellent results after being selected as a university operating this year's IP Regional Talent Training Project. <Pukyong Today> |
